“The Planetary Theater of Tourism”, led by GRANDEZA STUDIO, is one of the working cells in the context of Organismo | Art in Applied Critical Ecologies is an experimental applied research and independent study program developed jointly by TBA21–Academy and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid with the support of Fundación Casa Planas and La Casa de la Arquitectura.

“The Planetary Theater of Tourism” has created the prototype of a Post-Tourism Travel Agency (P.OT.R.A.). Repurposing Mallorca’s global role as a political and territorial laboratory for touristic imaginaries, P.O.T.R.A. reappropriates the spaces and technologies inscribed within today’s tourism industry in the island. P.O.T.R.A. borrows the travel agency’s own instruments —packages, itineraries, booking platforms, promotional language— and turns them into the means through which to resist the monocultures of tourism they normally serve. Engaging artists, activists, architects, scientists, and scholars, the agency addresses eco-social conflicts stemming from overtourism. Ultimately, the post-tourism packages proposed by the agency invite participants to collectively rehearse emancipatory futures of unprogrammed desire, environmental stewardship and radical unproductivity.

During the process, many complicit voices and institutions contributed to shaping the agency, including: Maria Buey González, Jon Aranguren, Rosa Ferré, Markus Reymann, Eduardo Castillo Vinuesa, Patricia Reed, Irene de Andrés, Uriel Fogué, Nerea Calvillo, George Papam, Filka Sekulova, Ivan Murray(CRIGUST), Maciá Blazquez (CRIGUST), SOCIB, Centre Oceanogràfic de Balears, Centre Oceanogràfic de Balears, amongst others.
